Miami Dolphins Sign Veteran Pass Rusher Matt Judon to One Year, $6M Deal

The Miami Dolphins have agreed to terms with veteran edge rusher Matt Judon on a one year contract valued at up to $6 million.

Judon, 33, spent the previous season with the Atlanta Falcons, where he appeared in 17 games and recorded 41 tackles, 5.5 sacks, five passes defended, and his first career interception . He originally entered the league as a fifth round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens, posting 34.5 sacks over five seasons before signing a four year, $56 million contract with the New England Patriots . Judon earned four consecutive Pro Bowl honors from 2019 through 2022 .

The Dolphins’ pass rushing group is already anchored by Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips, and rookie Chop Robinson all of whom have dealt with injuries. Judon’s addition aims to bolster depth and inject leadership into the rotation . Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel emphasized the signing wasn’t injury-driven, but rather a mutual fit for both Judon and the team .

Judon will have early-season matchups against his former teams, facing the Patriots in Week 2 and the Falcons in Week 8 .
